Synchronising sound

 In our lesson Tom Joyce an A- level Media studies student from the year above came in and taught our class how to synchronise sound. As I am the sound person in our pair I found this very helpful to know. Also from this I have a clearer understanding of how audio is picked up and how to make the most out of the sound and how to make the dialog more interesting because it will be clearer.

This is the hand held microphone that goes into the recorder. This can be better to use instead of just the recordings on the recorder or a camera because it picks up clearer and louder audio. 






When showing us how to synchronise sound I notice that he used two types of software to do this which was premiere pro and audacity. 













    This is the recorder that the microphone attaches to. It is easy to get the recordings off of this device onto the computer via a usb lead.

This is Joy Strassen and she is a fellow pupil here at The King's School. I wanted to get feedback from somebody who isn't a media student. Personally, I think that this has helped me because it's an opinion that I can use to see how we can improve our upcoming opening sequence.

 After conversing some ideas for our opening scene we have deciding to film a thriller. the reason why we chose this genre is because we think that it can appeal to a wider range of an audience because both older and younger people like to watch thrillers. 

The first thing I did was look up the top 10 best thrillers:

What we noticed from doing this was that most of these thrillers consists of a strong male lead. Therefore, for our film we have decided to have a female lead who we will try and portray as being smart and intelligent, we can try and do this by the use of her non- verbal communication and costume.

We presented our pitch to the rest of our media class.

We shared our idea we had and where they came from. This was good for us because it let us see who would actually be interested in seeing this film and can let us narrow down the target audience. 

Feedback

Some of the people in our class said that they would not want to see our film if it was being played at a cinema. However, a couple of the girls in our class strongly liked the idea. This could be because we said that there is going to be a strong female character as our main lead therefore this could be a reason why it appealed to the female audience more.

I conducted some research to see what genre of film was popular amongst the female and male audience. This table is based on a range of pupils between the ages of 16-18. 

I chose to receive research from this age group because this is part of the target audience that we want our film to appeal to.

In 2015 the Film 'The Imitation Game'- directed by Morten Tyldun was a nomination for the Oscars. The film won an Oscar for 'Best writing, Adapted screenplay'

As the consumer of the film I feel like in the UK this film was advertised well. Unlike a big franchise like Star wars or The Hobbit it didn't have a conglomerate film institution making it so they would not have been to make as much advertisement as those other big franchises, such as merchandise. However, I remember at the time they did make this film well known. It was widely advertised on Television adverts and also it was advertised on youtube. Furthermore, they also used very well known and famous actors on global scale such as Benedict Cumberbatch, Keira Knightley and Charles Dance.
